Jacobson Memorial Hospital Care Center
We perform same-day surgery one day each month. The surgeon in charge of our surgical program is Thomas B. Matheson, M.D. The surgical suite is located on the first floor (lower level), accessible from the main elevator. During surgery the patient's family should wait in the physical therapy waiting room near the surgical suite. The surgeon may wish to talk with the family before and following the surgery.
Working with your surgeon, physician, or both, is the individual who administers anesthesia. In the case of our outpatient surgical procedures, we use conscious sedation, which will be administered by the RN on duty in the OR that day and overseen by the surgeon. During surgery, you will be carefully monitored for heart rate and rhythm and frequently checked for vital signs: pulse, blood pressure, respiration, and temperature. Following surgery you will be taken to the recovery area for further observation. Here you will recuperate under a nurse's care until you are ready to leave the hospital.respiration
Your physician can answer further questions as to the types of surgical procedures available and will order procedures as necessary.
